How started the story of the realization of suspended hammock Cacoon.
Before you begin, a brief introduction./ P>
We are husband and wife team, Nick and Sarah. We own hang-in-out LLP; initiators of the Cacoon.
Our business is in the design and manufacture of sails for deep sea yachts. We are also experts in architectural fabric and textile technology for land-based structures./ P>
Nick, who started out as a furniture maker, is no stranger to creating unique fabric stretch structures. He has worked on projects like the Eden Project and the Alpine House at Kew Gardens.
He was commissioned to find a new concept in a post-treatment relaxation chair or hammock by 'The Scarlet', the luxury Hotel Spa in Cornwall.
And now, the star of the show, the Cacoon ...
The idea for the Cacoon was born on a Mexican holiday, and was triggered by nature.
During a trek in the jungle we came across a colony of small hanging nests, they nested in small holes created by their care, the bird is the Weaver. We were both immediately struck by their unique beauty, they were so peaceful.
After our long, hot day trekking allowed us to enjoy good food and some margaritas when the inspiration hit.
After a return home and months of conception, after reflection and rigorous testing later, our interpretation was complete, the Cacoon was born.
Just like the bird Weaver, you can also hide, sheltered in a cocoon, but always in contact with your surroundings./ P>
